Douglas County Social Services (DCSS) is proud to offer housing assistance to Douglas County Residents as part of our mission to promote and encourage self-sufficiency.
Through grants from Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Emergency Food and Shelter Grant, and Nevada Housing Division, DCSS offers the following housing assistance:
Emergency Motel DCSS has two programs designed to assist homeless residents with a temporary stay at a local motel. The purpose of this stay is to allow residents to save their weekly/monthly earnings. Clients would then use the money they would otherwise spend on rent and utilities towards obtaining their own permanent housing. Eligible clients may receive 30-90 days assistance.
Transitional Housing Participants who successfully utilize our Emergency Motel program but who are in need of additional long term assistance may qualify for up to 24 months of rental assistance on their path to self-sufficiency.
