Community Health Nurse

Our Focus
Douglas County Commissioners asked Carson City Health and Humans Services (CCHHS) to provide public health services to the residents of Douglas County.  CCHHS opened Douglas County Community Health in a newly refurbished office on January 17, 2012.

Douglas County Community Health provides services that are mandated by state law and funded by tax dollars, as well as state and federal grants.  Clinic staff includes an Advance Practice Nurse with physician back-up, registered nurses and other clinical staff.

The services provided by the Health Nurse at the Carson Valley Location include:
  • Communicable Disease Prevention and Treatment
  • Family Planning / Birth Control
  • Health Education
  • Immunizations
  • STD and HIV Prevention Education and Counseling - Testing and Treatment
  • Women's Cancer Screening Program - Annual well women exams, pap smear, breast exam, and mammogram referrals.
  • Well-Child Examinations and Healthy Kids Screenings
  • Tuberculosis Screening and Education
