How to Get a Library Card

Applying for a Card
You can apply for a library card at either the Minden or Lake Tahoe branch. At this time we do not provide registration for library cards by mail or email. Cards are free, with a small fee charged for replacement cards. All persons must complete an application. Complete and print this application, then bring it to the front desk at the library.

Required Information
The following information must be provided in order to receive a library card:
  • Birth date
  • Government issued picture ID of the applicant or his/her parent or guardian, with current address
  • If ID does not list current address, the following are acceptable as proof of address: rent / lease agreement or utility bill
  • Home telephone number, or message number, and work telephone number, if possible
  • Valid mailing address, including permanent address if seasonal resident or visitor
  • Valid physical address, if different than mailing address
Note: You may check out up to three items the day you receive your first card.

Library Passwords
A password provides an extra level of security when using your library card to access your account from the library's computers or the internet. You will be asked to select a password when you register for your card. If you do not remember choosing a password, please visit the library with your ID and ask to have a password set / reset.
