Emergency Preparedness

Resolve to be ready in 2012
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster or terrorism event, everyone should plan for and be prepared to go three days without electricity, water, or access to supermarkets and other services. Take these simple steps to prepare yourself and your family; make a plan, develop an emergency supply kit and stay informed!

Look at our CERT page to find other ways to develop community resilience in the event of an emergency or disaster.

Make A Plan
Make a plan before an emergency or disaster occurs. Discuss out-of-town contacts, a centralized meeting place in the event your family is separated during an event. How will you communicate, address the special needs of those in your home, deal with the school and your children, take care of your pets, etc...

Develop an Emergency Kit
Build a kit that will contain those items you, your family and pets will need to survive for three days without electricity or other services. This will include non-perishable food items, water, medications, a manual can opener, and other emergency kit supplies.

Stay Informed
Stay informed about what is going on around you in the event of an emergency or disaster. Depending upon the situation, you may need to evacuate, shelter-in-place or take other types of emergency action to lessen the impact of what is occurring in your community.
