Tahoe Douglas Senior Center

Tahoe Douglas Senior Center serves Douglas County’s senior population residing inside the Tahoe Basin. The Center is located at 885 Hwy 50, next to the fire station on the corner of Warrior Way and US 50, telephone: 775-588-5140. It is unique among Nevada’s senior centers in that it is currently operated solely by volunteers, for which reason it is not open every day. Among the many services and activities TDSC offers are:

Senior Recreation Opportunities
  • Bingo (Tuesday and Saturday's): Member socializing activities plus afternoon BINGO sessions beginning at 12 (Noon).
  • Texas Hold'em Poker: Weekly Friday (some Tuesdays) Texas Hold’Em Poker sessions are at 9:30 a.m. SHARP, call 530-314-0048.
  • Tahoe Senior Trips: Four casino/musical and other outings each year, plus various other group activities such as visits to Apple Hill and to other points of interest such as Thunderbird Lodge, cruising Lake Tahoe aboard the MS Dixie, etc.
  • Monthly Membership Lunch: A monthly membership luncheon with speaker program at Harrah’s (2nd Wednesday of each month.)
Volunteer & Service Opportunities
  • Canned Food Drive: Participation in an annual canned food drive for the needy.
  • Food Collection: Collection of “distressed” bakery items from Round Hill Safeway for distribution to members at the center Saturday (AM).
  • USDA Food Distributions: Distribution of USDA food commodities to those deemed eligible to receive same per USDA’s family income criteria (4th Thursday of every other
    month).
Senior Transportation
DART Dial-A-Ride will be providing medical and shopping trips for seniors 60 years and older living in Douglas County, NV. We provide service to Stateline, Zephyr Cove, Round Hill, Cave Rock, Carson city, Gardnerville, South Lake Tahoe. This program in part funded by Aging and Disability Services Division grant funds.

Tahoe Douglas Senior Center Transportation
If you need transportation to a medical or dental appointment, you must first call Transportation Director, Allan Sutter, at 775-588-2395, to make arrangements. Once you have your appointment date, call Allan, as requests must be made at least a week in advance. Also, please give him an idea of how long your appointment will take. If you wish to schedule a shopping trip to Carson city, call Allan to make arrangements as these trips are no longer scheduled on the calendars.
