Recreation
Mission Statement
To continue to create and preserve quality parks and recreation opportunities, serving people of all ages and interests, that positively affect the community and enrich life.
Activities
The Recreation Division oversees a variety of recreational activities, programs and events for all ages. Our administrative office handles activity registrations and facility reservations. We have programs all over the county, including the lake and the valley. Check out our current Activity Guide for the latest classes and events.
Before and After School Care
Kids Club is a before- and after-school recreational enrichment program for school aged children grades K-5. We operate this program at each elementary school in the valley on school days.
The Douglas County School District has Late Start once a month for the majority of the school year. We do not offer Kids Club on Late Start days, however we do offer our Wacky Wednesday program at 3 of the valley schools. Drop your child off in the morning and they will either be dismissed to the playground or bussed to their school at 10:05am.
School Breaks - Adventure Camp
During school breaks and teacher work days, we operate full day camps with trips to destinations that include Lake Tahoe, hiking trails, roller rinks, bowling, etc. Adventure Camp and Rad Camp are a fun way to spend the day when school is out!
Youth Sports
Youth sports programs are very popular and include flag football (fall), basketball (winter) and volleyball (spring.)
Adult Sports Programs
Adult sports programs include flag football, softball, basketball, soccer, pickleball and volleyball.
