Units from BLM, USFS, and the Nevada Division of Forestry were requested to respond also, along with air tankers and helicopters. The first unit on scene found 5 acres burning with 4 structures threatened. Additional East Fork units were called along with hand crews and more aircraft. A total of 125 people attacked the fire using 8 brush trucks, 4 water tenders, 4 hand crews, 2 helicopters, 2 air tankers, and overhead personnel. Most fire personnel were released by 8:30 in the evening, but an engine and a handcrew remained on scene over night to watch for flare ups and additional units will be back at the fire on Thursday to continue to monitor.
East Fork wants to make sure the public understands that we are in the middle of wildland fire season now. The weather is hot and dry, and the trees, brush and grass are completely ready to burn. Please be careful with all outside activities that could start a fire.
