  1. READing Paws Summer Edition

    July 19, 2018, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

    During the summer, a READing Paws therapy dog will be available at the Minden Library every Thursday between 10:30 and 12:00.

    Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler. Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog. Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library. This program is offered in partnership with READing Paws, a local affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals.

  2. Making Musical Instruments at the Zephyr Cove Library

    July 19, 2018, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    As part of the “Libraries Rock!” Summer Reading program, the staff at the Zephyr Cove Library will teach children how to make musical instruments out of household items. All crafting supplies will be provided by the library.

  3. Heritage Quest Training for Genealogists and Historians at the Library

    The Minden Library will be providing a six-week class on how to use the library’s Heritage Quest database for family and historical research. From June 14 to July 26, professional genealogist Yvonne Prettyman will teach the six-week class on Thursdays at the Minden Library from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  5. Friend Speed Dating

    Meet people in the community and make new friends with Friend Speed Dating! Adults ages 50 and over are invited to a low-key social event at the Minden Library.

    Attendees will be given a set amount of time to chat with each of the other attendees. The “getting to know you” period will be followed by food and refreshments.

    Put your master Lego builder skills to the test! The Douglas County Public Library will be hosting a Lego Build on Tuesdays from June 12 through August 7 at the Minden Library. Listen to a story and recreate it using Lego bricks.

    Lego bricks and building materials will be provided by the library. Lego Build Tuesdays are for children ages four and up.

    Enjoy stories at the park! The Douglas County Public Library will provide storytime at Lampe Park on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. from June 13 through August 8. Crafts will be included. Storytime will be held near the Farmer’s Market. Children of all ages are welcome.
