All children and teens are invited to participate in the 2017 Summer Reading Program. “Build a Better World” is this year’s theme with a children’s program for ages 0 to 11 and a teens’ program for ages 12 to 17.
The program runs from June 1 to July 31 at the Minden and Zephyr Cove branches. Children and teens who participate will earn prizes while they maintain and build their reading skills during summer break.
The online registration form can be filled out and printed from home through the library website, douglas.lib.nv.us, or at either branch.
July 1, 2017, 10:00 AM - July 31, 2017, 7:00 PM @ Minden Library and Zephyr Cove Library
Why should the kids get all the summer reading fun? The Douglas County Public Library is providing a Summer Reading Program for adults this July! Adults ages 18 and older may register at the Minden Library or the Zephyr Cove Library.
Participants will get the opportunity to share their opinions on the books they read. There will be door prizes for every book or audio book completed, and participants will be entered in weekly drawings for more prizes and for a chance to win the grand prize, a Samsung tablet.
Programs include a mug cake baking class and Bad Art Night.
July 13, 2017, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
A READing Paws therapy dog will be available at the Minden Library. Reading with animals can help children feel calm, gain confidence, and become strong readers.
Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler. Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog. Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library. This program is offered in partnership with READing Paws, a local affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals.
