Drayton Boulevard Construction Update
During its February 26, 2025 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners addressed the construction of Drayton Boulevard, focusing on changes to three active development agreements tied to the project. These agreements involve Carson Valley Homesites, LLC (for Pleasantview and Rain Shadow Ranch phases one and two) and Maryanne Road, LLC (for Rain Shadow Ranch phases two and three). The discussion centered on the unbuilt section of Drayton Boulevard extending south from Pleasantview Drive to Rubio Way.
Key Discussion Points
County Engineer Jeremy Hutchings outlined three main objectives for the project:
- Rescind outdated development agreements – Some of these agreements have been in place for nearly 20 years.
- Improve life safety – Creating a secondary access route from Acorn to Sweetwater.
- Enhance quality of life – Ensuring the design aligns with community needs.
The Board considered six design alternatives, evaluating funding, infrastructure impact, and modifications to the Transportation Master Plan.
Final Decision
After discussion and public input, the Board unanimously voted to adopt Version 6 of the plan. This option includes:
- Construct a 20-foot-wide emergency access road (gated and locked) connecting Acorn Way to Sweetwater Drive.
- The BOCC directed staff
to continue incorporating public outreach and collaborating with
community members as the project moves forward.
- A project budget of
approximately $460k would be dedicated to the project.
- Incorporate a solution
to nuisance ponding areas into the design.
- Extending a multi-use trail from Acorn Way and Drayton Boulevard north to Pleasantview Drive.
- Reseeding the vacant right of way without crossing the irrigation ditch.
