Minden, NV - The Seeman Ranch Pond project is now complete. The general public can now fully access the expanded trailhead as construction finished up in early June. The pond is located along the new Martin Slough Trail path which connects Minden to Gardnerville. The Seeman Ranch Pond is a great amenity for the Town of Minden as it offers the public a chance to enjoy the great outdoors all while still being within the Town boundaries.
The new construction consisted of a walking path around the pond, floating fishing dock, pavilion w/ tables, and barbeques, ADA compliance from the parking lot to both the dock and pavilion, parking lot expansion, restroom facility, water features, multiple park benches, and trash receptacles, etc. The construction budget was approximately $1,100,000 and is funded in partnership between several public and private entities including the Town of Minden, Dean Seeman Foundation, Mike Pegram (CVI), and other private donors who wish to remain anonymous.
Much of the design and construction administration was handled internally by the Town of Minden Staff with some design assistance from Sunrise Engineering, Inc. and Civil Science, Inc. Work had to be completed to add enough depth and oxygen into the water to provide safe and healthy fish habitat. This coordination was done with the assistance of NDOW and is now currently on their bi-weekly stocking schedule.
Users are reminded of the sensitive area and asked to plan to pack out trash and pick up after their pets. DOGS ARE ALLOWED on the trails as long as they are on a leash that does not exceed 10 feet in length. Dogs are not allowed in the Seeman Pond. Vehicles are restricted to the parking area only.
Save the date for the trail dedication ceremony which will be taking place on Friday Morning, July 15, 2022, at 10 am. Light refreshments will be served.
