Douglas County Assessor’s Office Provides Permanent DMV Exemption Cards For Qualifying Taxpayers
Douglas County, NV – In an effort to reduce paper waste and lower costs, the Douglas County Assessor’s Office will be providing a permanent exemption card in place of the current paper vouchers for qualifying taxpayers. These will be provided for all exemption recipients that apply their benefits to DMV. The Assessor’s Office begins sending out the cards this week.
The new permanent card has the resident’s name, exemption number (which never changes), and exemption type printed on the front of the card. On the back of the card, residents will find use instructions as well as a QR code. The QR code can be scanned with a cell phone and links to the Assessor’s website, where exemption recipients can check exemption balance. The Assessor’s contact information is also on the card if residents wish to call the office for balance information.
The exemption will work exactly the same as it has in the past, and will no longer need to wait for the voucher card in the mail to use the benefit. The benefit amount will renew each year as of July 1 and will be valid until gone or expires on June 30.
